Saklikent

It is a neighborhood affiliated with the Fethiye district of Muğla province. Ölüdeniz beach was chosen as the world’s most beautiful beach in 2006 with 82 percent of the vote[1].
The town is quite developed in terms of tourism. Among the Lycians it was known as the land of light and sun, and in the Middle Ages as the “Far Land”; it is located on the Teke Peninsula in southwestern Anatolia. It is one of the lagoon formations found in Türkiye.

Ölüdeniz is, as its name suggests, like a still lake. On the stormiest days, while the Belceğiz shores struggle with waves, only ripples occur in Ölüdeniz.

However, although it appears still, Ölüdeniz renews itself almost every day for three invisible reasons. The first is that the intense spring water outflows present in Ölüdeniz create a current from the bottom toward the open sea. The second is that, due to the salinity difference created by these spring waters, a continuous circulation forms from the open sea inward and outward. The third is that, due to the tidal effect, every two to three days the sea rises and falls by an average of half a meter. This also provides a large amount of seawater inflow and outflow.
